We were asked to help a young mum of two children, both under 4 years of age. The mum was in business with her husband on a self-employed basis, however he has since left both the family home and the business leaving them both without any income. She has applied for Universal Credit, but is facing delays as her husband is still listed on the tenancy agreement, so obtaining housing benefit is proving difficult. The husband has been abusive and this is now reported to the Police. In the meantime she has no money for food for her or the children, so we agreed to send her £100 to help her out.
