The request for help came for a single mum with a young son and a toddler. They live in a two bedroom house, so the children share a room. She has been struggling to get some things for the house, and are without a stair carpet and furniture for the children’s room. She recently fell down the stairs herself and is now concerned that the children might also fall down the stairs. Existing on benefits means she is unable to save to buy anything she needs, not even secondhand. We agreed to send across £150 so she could purchase what she needs herself.
