A family whose baby has been born seven and a half weeks early are without any money until the 10th of June when their Universal Credit payment will be made. An application for a Sure Start maternity grant and child benefit has been made but that will take some time to be processed. In the meantime they are headed home with their new son without any money on them at all. The mother has previously had issues around drugs but has cooperated really well with the support that was put in place for her and has been clean now for well over a year. We agreed to send the family £100 to help them out on this new beginning for them all. We received some feedback shortly after we’d sent the money to express how grateful they were that someone had reached out to them to help.
