Grandmother takes on responsibility of raising her grandchildren

A grandmother in her 60’s who five years ago suffered a stroke, has taken on the responsibility of her two grandchildren, following the departure of her daughter.  The grandmother suffers with osteoarthritis and has compromised mobility as a result.  She also suffers with depression and is a domestic abuse survivor.  She is in receipt of Employment Support Allowance due to her being disabled, but currently does not receive any benefits to help with the costs of the children.  An application has been made for increasing her benefits, but until then she is struggling to manage.  We agreed to send them £100 to help them out.
