A man previously employed as a salesman has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing intensive treatment. Unfortunately he is currently unable to work due to his condition and is now in receipt of Statutory Sick Pay of £94 per week. As all this was unexpected and he was without any savings his outgoings are higher than the money he has coming in, so he is falling into arrears with his rent and bills. Our agents are going to help him apply for Employment Support Allowance once his SSP runs out, and will help him apply for other benefits he is entitled to claim. In the meantime he is struggling to cope with his energy costs as he is at extremely high risk of infection, his sister has been helping him to top up his meters but he needs some extra help now. We agreed to send him £90 to help him out.
