We spotted on social media a lady asking for help. She had just found out that her child tax credits had been stopped by tax credits as they claim they believe there has been an over-payment. She has been asked to complete a form and they have said they will look into it in the next few days, but have suggested she might have to wait without any child tax credits until April next year. This has left her without money to buy any of the food for next week including Christmas dinner, the stopping of the tax credits had been unexpected so she wasn’t prepared. What makes things worse is that the child she claims tax credits for is diabetic. We agreed between us to send the family £100 so that they can then make the necessary arrangements to get the food they need.
