Single man trying to survive on £17 a week

A single man in his thirties has been without any income at all apart from money raised from the occasional music lesson and some busking which raises approximately £17 a week.  He lives alone in a one bedroom flat and suffers with depression, anxiety and PTSD.  Our agents have helped him to apply for the benefits he is entitled to claim and he now has a claim in for Universal Credit and is awaiting an assessment by the DWP to determine whether he has limited capability for work or not.  He is also being assisted to put in a claim for Personal Independence Payment, as well as a Discretionary Housing Payment to help with the shortfall in his housing benefit and the cost of his monthly rent.  He is also receiving guidance from his local debt team at Citizens Advice as he has built up a number of debts that are making his anxiety worse.  We agreed to cover the cost of a Debt Relief Order to address the debts, and send him £75 to help him out while he waits for his benefits to kick into payment.
