N came to the UK as a refugee, and initially found work as an interpreter. She has had to give that up for the moment as she is in so much pain with her arthritis, plus she is extremely stressed and anxious as she has no idea of the whereabouts of her son who also fled their home country and is trying to seek refuge. She has no idea of whether he is safe or not. When she arrived here she had nothing, so when she was given accommodation she had to lease the furniture as well as the accommodation. She is in receipt of Universal Credit, but there were problems when it was first set up and this has left her in dire circumstances. After her bills are paid she has only £36 for food, gas and electric to last her until the end of May. We agreed to send her £100 to help her manage until then.
