Our agents contacted us to find out if we could help a grandmother who has taken on the sole care of her three grandchildren, ages 14, 8 and 4 years respectively. Their mother, her daughter died two years ago, so the children moved in with her. She had to give up her full-time job and now relies on Income Support, housing benefit, child benefit and tax credits. Her rent is completely covered by housing benefit, but they have recently been moved as a family into a larger social housing property. She is faced with needing items for their new home, plus school uniforms for the children. We agreed between us to send her £200 to help her buy what she needs.
