We were approached about a young mum of a 2 month old who suddenly finds herself alone, after her partner has been imprisoned for the next four years. She is in receipt of Universal Credit which has been issued at half the amount it should be due to a clerical error at the DWP. They have acknowledged and accepted it is their error, however they are taking their time to resolve the situation and this young mum has been waiting some time. She is struggling to work out which bills to prioritise as this error has left her without even enough money to pay her rent, let alone buy a much need cot and pram for the baby. We agreed to send over £100 for her to use to cover food and energy costs for them both. Hopefully with the help of our agents the DWP will rectify this mistake as a matter of urgency.
