Mother of 7 month old needs money for baby milk

A young mum rang a helpline yesterday worried that once she’d been paid her Universal Credit payment and she’d covered her rent she wouldn’t have enough money to buy baby milk for her 7 month old, as she had been in receipt of statutory maternity pay which had thrown her over a threshold for Universal Credit.  She’d worked out she would have enough for most things but not be able to cover the cost of the baby milk, which would be £40 for the month of January.  We agreed to send her £40 to cover the cost of this so it was one less thing to worry about.  Our agents are organising food bank vouchers for her to keep her going.
