Happy New Year to you all

We closed over the Christmas break to allow us all to have a rest and for our donations to build back up again. We reopened on Monday the 8th, to a lot of email requests that had come in anyhow. So we have spent most of this week trying to play catch up. We are now getting a huge volume of requests every single day as so many people are struggling to put food on the table, stay in their homes, or heat them. The choice between eating and heating is very real, we see it daily, many times over. We desperately need your help. Please can you put your thinking caps on and see what is possible to generate some much-needed donations for us? Maybe do a work fund-raiser, go without coffee one time per week and donate the money you would have spent to the Biscuit Fund instead, a sponsored walk, anything. It’s surprising what is possible when people put their minds to it. We are getting dreadful emails in, people with 15p to their name, what can you buy with 15p, nothing. People panicking because their electricity is going to go off supply (pre-payment meter) and they are at risk of losing all the food they have in the fridge and freezer. It is a tough time, and being so cold, being homeless in the cold is never good. We have helped a pregnant mother this week who is currently street homeless in this freezing weather. Sometimes, reading some of these emails you have to remind yourself that you are not living in Dickensian times and that it is 2024, not 1874. Please consider a donation, however small, go here to find out more.
