Gluten free on a tough budget

Our clients were a young woman and her partner. She had recently been released from the mental health section of her local hospital. They have been having problems with managing on their very tight budget, wouldn’t be receiving any further benefits payments for several days and have hardly any food in the house. The woman is gluten intolerant and needs to eat food that is suitable for her to consume. Her partner suffers with severe depression and doesn’t always consider her needs when he fixes himself something to eat and will eat the gluten free food that is set aside for her. We agreed to send across £50 to allow a small food shop to tide them over until they get their next benefits payment.
