A young teenaged mum with severe mental health problems is currently of no fixed abode. She is managing by sofa surfing with her baby son, at friends that are kind enough to put them up. She is unable to work at the moment as she is under the supervision of a psychiatrist. She has submitted a claim for Universal Credit and has taken advantage of the advanced payment but used most of this to buy nappies and milk for her baby. We agreed to send them £150, which we split over two payments to assist her with budgeting.

The lady that needed our help is a young mum who has been sofa surfing with a two year old for the past seven months. She has finally been given a place to live, but it needs some things to make it habitable for her and her child. The main thing needed is something to put on to the concrete floors as currently the place is so cold and not conditions for a young child. We agreed to send over £100 so that she can then hopefully use the money to buy some second hand items from the area in which she lives.

We were contacted by an agent to ask if we could help a man with learning difficulties, he has a criminal history, but since being released from prison he has successfully found full time employment and has reconnected with his family. Our agents became involved as he needed support with his housing as he was sofa surfing with no fixed address of his own. They have managed to help him get a place of his own, but of course as he has nothing to his name, finding furniture and household goods is both expensive and difficult. He has been spending pretty much all his wages on his home and getting what he needs but they realised he had no means of cooking or heating food, nor any pots and pans. So they asked if we could fund a microwave for him so at least come Christmas he can heat or cook himself a hot meal. We sent across £50 to help him do this.
