Single mum of two in trouble

This client was brought to us by our agents as they are supporting her with some serious debt issues.  They have guided her to agencies that can help her get some sort of debt management into place, but she also has an issue in that her oven is broken and is unable to replace it, nor use it to cook for herself and her two children, the youngest of which is only three years old.  We agreed to send her £80 to go towards a repair of her existing oven, or to use to replace it with a reconditioned one.

Single mum of two in debt

Today we were asked to help a mum, mother of two children, one in her late teens who has a learning disability and a nine year old.  She is in debt, which is aggravating her anxiety and depression as she feels she can't see any way out.  She is having problems with her payments and is currently without any money, due to her rent payments being over the threshold for housing benefit so she has to find the shortfall somehow, which she is struggling to do.  She is not due another benefits payment until the end of this month and currently is without money for food, etc.  We agreed to send her £100 to last her until her next benefits payment.  Our agents are going to support her with budgeting and applying for a discretionary housing payment.

Mum going without food to feed her two children

We were made aware of a single mum to two children, a three year old and a four month old.  She has been literally starving herself, so that she can make the little amount of food she has available to her children.  She now has no money for gas or electricity or any food.  She usually budgets really well, but as with many people in January she finds it a very long month.

She tried to make Christmas good for the children, as their father has now been imprisoned for domestic violence towards the mother, but it has backfired as she now finds herself struggling so much.  We agreed to send her £100 to allow her to buy some gas, electric and some food for the three of them.
