Help was needed for a family that have taken on the 24/7 care and given space to their home to a 23 year old man, the son of the man of the house from a previous relationship. The boys mother had said that she could no longer cope and that he was now his fathers responsibility. The man has given up his job in order to care for his son, and this has impacted financially on the rest of his family, his wife and their new baby. The property they are currently in is too expensive for them to manage, so help is being given to help them move to somewhere less expensive, and will have enough room as the son needs a bariactric bed. The father is trying to do all he can to support his new family, and also his son who feels rejected by his mother. We agreed between us that we would send them £150 to help them out. We have since had reported back to us that the father has now had his benefits put into place, so hopefully things will begin to improve for the family.

We had an urgent request for help for a young man who found himself homeless and living on the streets following issues at home. He had been living in a hostel until suitable and affordable accommodation could be found for him. When these come up it is often necessary to move very fast otherwise the opportunity is lost, and he would be back to waiting again. He heard that a property had become available but he would need to be able to afford the first weeks rent as a deposit and be able to pay that within days. He is currently in receipt of job seekers allowance, and will be able to claim housing benefit to pay the rent going forward. He is very keen to get off benefits and back into employment. We agreed to help him with his first rental payment of £81.88, so we could be certain he would be housed.

Our client with this case is a young mum, who is expecting her fourth child. She and the children had come to our agents, homeless and in need of help. She has with their support been offered a place for her and the children to live, but she needed a weeks rent in advance to be able to go ahead with the hosuing association accommodation. Our agents are supporting her with her benefits claim, and as part of that they asked us to help her out with one weeks rent which came to the sum of £166.01, which we arranged payment of. This was an urgent case as if she didn't move fast with this, then she would loose the opportunity for her and her children to have a more secure life.
