Single lady with no means of cooking

Our agents are helping a lady that suffers with hearing and sight loss, as well as a degenerative condition.  She is existing currently on only £55 a week to cover everything she needs, such as utilities, bills and food.  While they were visiting this lady they realised she has no means of cooking in her accommodation apart from a toaster.  They asked us if we could help her out by sending enough money for her to be able to purchase a microwave oven, as she is struggling to meet her current needs let alone have anything left over to save.  We agreed to send her £50 to help her out.

Single mum of two in trouble

This client was brought to us by our agents as they are supporting her with some serious debt issues.  They have guided her to agencies that can help her get some sort of debt management into place, but she also has an issue in that her oven is broken and is unable to replace it, nor use it to cook for herself and her two children, the youngest of which is only three years old.  We agreed to send her £80 to go towards a repair of her existing oven, or to use to replace it with a reconditioned one.

Couple that were living in a van are housed

Our agents asked us to assist a couple that have now been offered housing.  They had previously both been living in the back of a van, and had moved to the area, so were not eligible for help from the local authority.  Our agents have fundraised to obtain some of the items they needed, but they still are in need of an oven.  He is now working a few hours a week, with the hopes the hours will increase, and his partner is in the process of attending interviews.  We agreed to send them £80 to use towards purchasing a reconditioned oven.

Disabled lady without an oven

A disabled lady came to our attention because her oven had broken and was in need of being replaced.  Her disability benefits payments are all used up trying to stay afloat with bills and food, etc. so she does not have the means to be able to replace the oven.  Cooking in a microwave isn't a suitable option for her.  We agreed to send her £80 so that she could put that towards a new oven, or buy a reconditioned oven.  We know our agents are in touch with a local organisation that offers reconditioned electrical goods, so they will make sure she gets what she needs.

Young man moves into his first home

These particular agents of ours help people move into accommodation where they have been long term homeless and would struggle with the transition of living alone.  He had been living in very temporary accommodation for a long time and never really had a home of his own before.  Finally suitable accommodation was found but did not have any furniture or anything else for that matter to move into it.  Our agents managed to get a home starter pack from the local council, but they were unable to arrange for an oven for him.  The young man is keen to get settled and begin a new healthier life, hoping to start a career with the railways.  We managed to find a decent basic oven, and including delivery and fitting came to under £200.  He should be having his new oven fitted very soon.
