Young man with cancer loses his job

We were asked to help a young man in his early twenties who is currently in hospital receiving treatment for cancer.  When he asked his employer for time off for treatment they removed him from his job which our agents are intending to challenge with his former employer.  He is without money and will have to claim benefits on his release from hospital but he is currently without any money so we agreed to send him £50 so he could get some groceries on his way home.

Man with cancer having to give up self-employment

A man who has always been self-employed has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing intensive treatment.  He had to give up working in December because of his condition, and has recently submitted a claim to be put on to Employment Support Allowance and Personal Independence Payments, which will take some time to be received, assessed and put into payment.  He has been existing by using the remains of a tax rebate and his overdraft to pay his mortgage and bills.  His cooker has broken and our agents have applied for a grant to get this replaced but asked us to help him with some money for food, which we agreed to, sending him £100.
